Bolted Shelving was developed using angle uprights with holes punched all along the length with shelves bolted in to place. Bolted shelving has been in existence for decades and is generally referred to as BS (British Standard) Shelving. In actual fact few systems have a "true" BS specification because the shelf loading does not necessitate it.

Hanging Garment Shelving has been developed using rails instead of shelves to tie the posts or frames together. The rails are then used to support garments on conventional coat hangers allowing them to be freely moved on and off the shelving.
